I then get an idea of a song and begin writing it right away. I sit on my back porch with my guitar, and then the lyrics appear and it's usually all done in under 30 minutes. Niykee is continuing to improve her skills as a poet and lyrics writer. She explains how the trauma she endured through the years can be a source of unusual motivation. "Even in the absence of writing about my life directly it is the loss of my sister as well as my difficult childhood experiences are integrated into my songs," she says. It influences my music and gives it a deeper significance, something I consider very important. I would like to be able listen to my music 20 years from now and be proud of my words.
